Attorney Douglas N. Nelson has joined the Lozen, Kovar & Lozen, P.C. law firm in an “of counsel” capacity. Mr. Nelson’s practice will continue to focus on probate, estate planning, real estate and business law.
Previously, Mr. Nelson was the managing partner of Douglas N. Nelson, P.C. Timothy J. Lozen, the firm’s managing shareholder, stated: “We are honored and pleased to have an attorney with Doug’s credentials and experience join us.”

Anna M. Kovar and Matthew C. Lozen have become shareholders in the Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C. The firm is now known as Lozen, Kovar & Lozen, P.C. and continues to be headquartered in Port Huron at 511 Fort Street, Suite 402. The Firm provides a full range of legal services to businesses, professionals, families and individuals. Attorney Anna Kovar’s practice areas include Family Law, Civil Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Timothy C. Wrathell is Elected President of the Sanilac County Bar Association

At the June 15, 2009 Annual Meeting of the Sanilac County Bar Association, Port Huron/ Sandusky attorney Timothy C. Wrathell was elected to serve as President of the Sanilac County Bar Association, with his term to expire in 2010.
Mr. Wrathell is an associate at the Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C. with offices at 200 S. Elk Street in Sandusky, and 511 Fort Street, Suite 402 in Port Huron. His practice focuses on real estate law, estate planning, criminal law, family law, municipal law and litigation. Mr. Wrathell is a 1998 graduate of Sandusky High School. In May of 2008, he graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning his Juris Doctor Degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He also holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Surveying Engineering from Ferris State University.

For the fourth year in a row, Port Huron attorney Timothy J. Lozen, founder of the Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen P.C., and of-counsel to the Detroit area based firm Jaffe Raitt Heuer & Weiss, P.C., has been named one of Michigan’s top environmental lawyers.

Mr. Lozen is on the governing council of the State Bar of Michigan’s Environmental Law Section and is past chair of the Section’s Real Estate Committee. The Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C. is proud to announce that attorney Tim Wrathell has joined the firm as an associate. Mr. Wrathell is a 1998 graduate of Sandusky High School. In May of 2008, he graduated Magna Cum Laude, earning his Juris Doctor Degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School. He also holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Surveying Engineering from Ferris State University.
Mr. Wrathell has worked as a law clerk for Neumann Law in Holt, Michigan. He has also worked for Milletics’ Surveying in Sandusky, for Urban Land Consultants in Shelby Township, and for the Michigan Department of Transportation.

At the September 10, 2008 Annual Meeting of the Port Huron Chapter of the National Association of Career Women, Katherine V. Haemelinck was appointed to serve on the Board of Directors with her term to expire in 2010.
Katie is the Office Manager and Legal Assistant for the Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C. Katie is a graduate of Capac High School, attended St. Clair Community College in the early 1980s, and received her Associates Degree in General Business Cum Laude from Macomb Community College in 1996. She has been employed by the Lozen firm since 2001.
Port Huron Attorney Anna M. Kovar Participates In Divorce & Custody Mediation Training Seminar

Port Huron Attorney Anna Kovar participated in the recent Divorce & Custody Mediation Training Seminar in Chicago with nationally acclaimed mediator Zena Zumeta. The 40 hour, five day “hands-on” training used a combination of role plays, lectures, simulations, and videotapes of actual mediations and discussions to further participants’ skills relating to overseeing and handling the process of divorce mediation. Ms. Kovar is becoming an approved Divorce & Custody Mediator with both the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Michigan State Court Administrative Office.

The Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C. presented an In-Service program at the Port Huron Golf Club for local area medical and dental professionals. Co-Hosting the June 9, 2008 program with Lozen were attorneys Robert Iwrey and Andrienne Dresevic of Wachler & Associates and Deborah Baughman of Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss, P.C.
Topics addressed during the program included implementation of internal compliance programs; risks identified by the Office of Inspector General related to billings; third-party payor issues; compliance issues under the Stark laws; and deferred compensation and employee benefit plans.

Port Huron Attorney Anna Kovar of the Law Offices of Timothy J. Lozen, P.C., was named as co-recipient of the Lawrence W. Beckett Volunteer of the Year Award by The Resolution Center. The Award is given to mediators for exceptional support, service and dedication to alternate dispute resolution within the community. The Resolution Center is an organization dedicated to providing facilitated mediation services to businesses and residents in St. Clair and Macomb counties.
Attorney Kovar stated: “I firmly believe in the positive process of solving problems through dialogue as an alternative to litigation. Facilitative Mediation often creates a win/win situation in which the parties can resolve their differences, while avoiding the expenses and delays associated with litigation.”
Attorney Kovar is an approved certified Mediator with both the Association for Conflict Resolution and the Michigan State Court Administrators Office, has served as a mediator since 2006, and has facilitated mediation in over a hundred matters.
